National Play Day 4th August 2010 at Farm Lane Rugby Football Ground

For the first time National Play Day comes to Aldbourne!  There is something for all ages planned, from Climbing Wall to Cardboard City, Gloop to Photography!  Youth Action Wiltshire will be organising sports activities, Swindon Town Football Players will be visiting, Mountain Boarding, Cheerleading, BBQ, Arts and Crafts, Information stalls, tennis, BMX track, Marlborough Childrens Centre, ASK Wiltshire the Family Information Service and local childcare providers will also be in attendance.  Majority of the activities will be FREE!

Anyone for tennis?

The Aldbourne Tennis Club is located in Castle Street and welcomes new members.  If you would like information about coaching in or local to Aldbourne CLICK HERE 
You don't need to be a member of a tennis club to access coaching programmes or book individual lessons though members do generally receive discounts.  Local Clubs can be found in Aldbourne, Ramsbury, Wanborough, Marlborough and Hungerford.
There is also a free public tennis court in Aldbourne located next to the Farm Lane Football Pitch open from dawn until dusk.

For a small donation we will happily create a website for you and keep it up to date.  Alternatively, we can help you to create your website and support you each step of the way until you are confident to update on your own.

FREE Adult computer courses at Aldbourne Internet Cafe 'CAN'

You can now book free computer courses and support in the CAN! Whatever it is that you want to do, we can help you achieve your goal.  You can even choose your tutor.  From Basic computing and emails, to Windows movie maker and uploading your videos to You Tube.  Support with E-Bay, writing letters, researching on the web, Facebook, Twitter...let us know what you need support with!

Are you age 12-19 and looking for something to do during the summer holidays?

Come and check out what activities you can access organised and supervised through Aldbourne Youth Council or Marlborough Youth Service.  Most activities are free, some incur fees.  More information available at Aldbourne Internet Cafe (CAN) or via www.sparksite.co.uk

OR
Whatever age you are, you could volunteer with the Aldbourne Youth Council and put something back into the community while gaining some valuable work experience to add to your CV.  Please speak to Hazel or Amy for more information.

Do you need to borrow a projector that connects to a laptop?
Aldbourne Youth Council have one which is available to use in return for a donation.  Please contact Trustees or Amy/Hazel via Aldbourne Internet Cafe for more info.

Photography Competition...

The Dabchick committee are looking for a photograph to go on the front cover of the August edition with the theme 'Aldbourne.'  The competition is open to all residents within the Parish of Aldbourne together with those who receive the Dabchick by post.  Winners will receive a £25 donation to the charity of their choice.  Entries close 30th June 2010 and can be left at the Post Office or emailed direct to editor((at)thedabchick.org.uk
Photographs can be film, slide or digital, colour or black and white.  Digital  185mm width x 220mm height and 5 megapixels or higher.

Lifelong Learning:
Are you interested in Family History?

This 10 week course will take place at the Internet Cafe. Support will be available for those with limited computer skills. CLICK HERE for Internet Cafe details and opening hours.

BMX Track Maintenance

Do you have half an hour now and again available to help maintain the BMX track in Aldbourne?  All equipment and guidance provided.  Help needed to rake the track, inspect and remove any hazards e.g. sharp stones.  Next track maintenance day planned for Wednesday 28th April.  Other dates will be planned to fit around volunteers availability.  Please use the CONTACT US section of this website to email or leave your contact details at the Internet Cafe FAO Matt, BMX Maintenance coordinator.  Thank you.
